Chiangmai Night Safari

Chiang Mai Night Safari (7.30 pm. - 9.30 pm.)
Pick up at 6.45 pm - 7.00pm.

Chiang Mai Night Safari is far from city about 10 km.The Safari offers a series of trails over three main zones. The Jaguar Trail offers visitors a walk of around 1,200meters and is open during the day and at night. The Savanna Safari and Predator Prowl areas use rail cars to move visitors around. This is the ideal opportunity to observe wildlife at night.

The park has three animal zones: the Jaguar Trail, which we chose to walk, the Savanna Safari Zone, where animals from the African savanna can be seen close-up at night from a 60-seater electric tram-or mini-train as it purrs past the more than 300 herbivores (not the back-packing vegetarians that haunt Chiangmai's restaurants) or plant eating animals, such as Giraffes, Gorals, Wildebeests, Rhinoceroses, yaks and many others.

The Predator Prowl Zone, which has no connection whatsoever with Chiangmai's Night Bazaar, is the carnivorous animal zone where the hairs on the back of your neck tend to rise. As your tram carries you, in total safety, within yards of some of the world's most ferocious creatures you can't help but feel the power, majesty and grace of such animals as lions, tigers, Asiatic Black bears, crocodiles, African hunting dogs, and the elegant impala.

Highlands golf club and Resort , Chiang Mai ,Sankampheng
Near Sankampheng's Hot Springs and only 30 minutes east of Chiang Mai is the finest new golf course in Northern Thailand - Chiang Mai Highlands. The brainchild of Vichai Samakoses and designed by Lee Schmidt, this par-72, 7,000 yard from late 2005, 18-hole masterpiece is built on a power spot" " the hermitage of Kuba Sivichai (the revered monk who founded the famous temple on Doi Suthep). This very special site is breathtaking in every direction and literally tingles with an energetic aliveness. Its profound tranquility, high elevation, cool climate, fresh air, pure water, and fertile soil, form the perfect place to sculpt a living golf treasure. From the inviting downhill 1st hole, the golf course effortlessly flows along, gaining strength, beauty, and character with each passing hole until its thrilling, dramatic finish on the unforgettable 18th. If you only have one day to golf in the north, play Chiang Mai Highlands. This world-class resort is not to be missed!

Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club
Designed by 5 times British Open winner Peter Thomson and Michael Wolveridge, this 6900 yard, par 72, park-land style course is located 30 minutes from Chiang Mai, in the foothills of Northern Thailand. The 2000 rai site, a former fruit orchard, provides breathtaking panoramic vistas of mountains in the distance. The high altitude provides a cooler, less humid climate, sweet refreshing air, and gentle breezes. It's filled with the songs of birds, an abundance of wildlife, and thousands of flowering trees erupting in different fragrances and colors every month of the year. The design uses elements from a British links style course, including bumpy gently rolling fairways, pot bunkers and closely mowed areas around the greens

Alpine North Golf Club
Chiangmai-Lamphun that was closed March 2008 and totally re-design by world-famous golf course designer Ron M Garl, It opened again for the public on 1 November 2008. An 18 holes, 7,541 yards, par 72 champion ship course.Ron Garl also designer Alpine Bangkok that have held Johniee Walker classic twice with winners as Tiger Woods and Miguel Angel Jiminez
The Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai comprises some 450 rai of land that nestles in a valley between the mountain ranges in the heart of the San Kampaeng natural forests. It is undoubtedly one of the golf courses in Chiang Mai that boast of the best in natural beauty. The design of the course, was inspired by the magnificent hills in its horizon. No matter where you are on the course, you are enjoy nature at her best: exquisite lush green from the nearby forests which comprise a rich assembly of trees such as the golden teakwood, the Dipterocarpus Alatus and many more other species.
A visit to The Alpine Golf Resort promises an unforgettable experience. First, the course is complete with a full range of facilities including a 4-star resort so that you can bring your family members for a well-deserved breakaway. Last but not least is the opportunity to enjoy good food and the pleasure of a spa indulgence after your round of golf and all this in the spectacular ambience of the hills of Chiang Mai.

Green Valley Golf Club - Chiang Mai
Situated in the lowlands, only 20 minutes from downtown Chiang Mai, this Dennis Griffiths & Associates designed championship course offers an unusually tough challenge. The heat and humidity, along with the 7,200 yards of wide open fairways, tough water hazards on every hole, plenty of bunkers, and few trees, make for a difficult and thirsty round of golf. Ideally played in the early morning or late afternoon, due to lack of trees, this tournament calibre course has Chiang Mai's most superbly conditioned and maintained fairways and greens. The clubhouse is a model of excellence. Green Valley is now featuring night time golf that is a must to try out with stunning background lighting behind the palm trees.
At the time of writing it is 9 holes with superb lighting and later on this year 2010 the whole course will be lid up.

Mae Jo Golf Club
Sculpted from fertile orchards in the foothills 20 minutes north of Chiang Mai is one of Asia's finest courses. Beautifully designed 6,700 yard, par-72 jewel from 2004 by Seni Thirawat is risk-reward, as its lush, narrow fairways slither through the sweetly scented mango, citrus and lychee "Garden of Eden" like the golden pythons golfer's sometimes see. Throughout the year the air is sweetly scented with fragrant blossoms, and the trees laden with fruit. Created Banthun Tantivit, the clubhouse, restaurant, lodge, golf course and extensive practice facilities are impeccably first-class. Although only opened in 2004, it???s superbly conditioned fairways and greens play more like a mature course than a newly constructed one. The breathtaking vistas from the 15th tee is but another great reason to visit Mae-Jo.
Malmo Golf Club from Sweden ready to tee-off at Mae Jo Golf Cours

Gassan Khuntan Golf Club and Resort
Only one hour south of Chiang Mai is Gassan's new Khuntan Resort. Khuntan means "Devil Mountain" and this 18-hole, 7,100 yard, par-72 creation from 2004 is devilishly difficult. Tucked in the "dragon-like' folds of Lampang"s foothills on a riverbank, the distinctive design of the course, clubhouse and resort is pure "eye candy". Its target golf/risk-reward style, the lack of a practice range, no golf course guidebook, and clever optical illusions make hitting the right shot, with the right club, to the right spot a true test. When you stand on the tee of the par-3, - 5th hole and face a mid-iron shot to a tiny island green, in the middle of a huge lake, into the teeth of swirling winds, you will know why this course is aptly named. Although club/shot selection are demanding, the relentless challenge only adds to the experience. To gain par takes focus, making the occasional birdie that much more special. For an unforgettable day of golf in a truly spectacular setting, head south.

Gassan Lake City , Lamphun
Experience the charm of Northern Thailand at Chiang Mai"s newest championship golf course. Only 15 minutes south of Chiang Mai is Gassan's newest masterpiece, the extraordinary Lake City. This 18-hole, 6,400 yard, par-72 beauty from 2005, designed by Gassan's owner, noted Thai architect Pravit Reang-Po, mirro's the unique clubhou

WAT CHEDI LUANG on Phra Pokklao Rd. is the site of a formerly massive pagoda that was unfortunately destroyed in the great earthquake of 1545. The temple was origainally constructed in 1401 by the order of King Saeng Muang Ma. In 1454, regning King Tilo-Garaj enlarged the chedi to a height of 86 meters. After the earthquake, the chedi lay in ruins 1991, when it was reconstructed at a cost of several million baht. The reconstructed chedi was finished in 1992, and it is every bit as impressive as the original.

WAT PHRA SINGH is located in the center of the city at the intersection of Singharaj and Rajadamnern Rd.,The large chedi was built in 1345 by King Pha Yu to house the remains of his father King Kam Fu. A typical scripture repository is located at this temple as well. These repositories were designed to keep and protect sacred texts written on palm leaves and the delicate saa or mulberry paper sheets used by monks and scribes to keep records and write down folklore. The high stucco covered stone base of the repository protected the delicate scriptures from the rains, floods and pests.
The wall of the chapel are covered with murals illustrating Lanna customs, dress, and scenes from daily life. The lovely Lai Kam chapel houses the revered Phra Singh Buddha image. Sadly, the head was stolen in 1992, and reproduction is now seen.

WAT SUAN DOK on Suthep Rd., was built in 1383. It was constructed in the gardens of the Lanna Royal Residence. The rows of smaller white chedies contain the ashes of Chiangmai???s Royal Lanna dynasty. The site was organized by Princess Chao Dararassmee, the only northern royal consort to Rama V, King Chulalongkorn

WAT CHIANGMAN is the oldest temple in Chiangmai. Is located within the walled city on Rajapakinai Rd., King Meng Rai allegedly lived here while the new city of Chiang Mai was constructed. Enshrined in Wat Chiangman is a tiny crystal Buddha called Phra Seh-Taang Kamanee. It is thought have the power to bring rain. Another image, called Phra Sila Khao, reflects the fine workmanship of Indain craftsmen from thousands of years ago.

                                               Wat Chiangman

Afternoon 13.00 pm. - 17.00 pm.

HIGHLIGHTS: Doi Suthep Temple,Hmong (Meo) Hilltribe village
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep (Doi Suthep Temple) is set amongst the peak of Doi Suthep. It has a lovely setting with a panoramic view of Chiangmai and the Mae Ping River valley. Although Wat Doi Suthep is the most recently built of the temples dating from the Lanna Thai period, it is the symbol of Chiangmai. The site was selected by sending an elephant to roam at will up the mountainside. When it reached this spot, it trumpeted, circled three times, and knelt down which was interpreted as a sign indicating an auspicious site.

Hmong: The Hmong or Meo is the group living in China, Vietnam, Burmar,Laos and Thailand. They call themselves Hmong and are separated into two major groups "White Hmong" who call themselves Hmong Daw ad the Striped Hmong or Blue Hmong who call themselves Hmong Njua. They are linguistically classified as Sino-Tibatan.The Hmong give much importance to their New Year's celebration. When they worship their ancestral spirits each village holds their worship at different ties to accommodate other villages especially for the young to meet potential mates. The celebration lasts for two to three days in December. Each village will wear their native dress and engage in local games in the village center which outsiders are allowed to participate in.

Khantoke Dinner

Khantoke Dinner (7.30 pm. - 9.00 pm.)
Pick up 7.00 pm. - 7.15 pm
Enjoy a Traditional North Thailand Khantoke Dinner
Chiangmai, Thailand. For an excellent Thai dinning experience, a traditional Lanna Khantoke dinner is a must. Many believe this north Thailand dinner with music and dance was invented for tourists, but the Khantoke dinner dates back many centuries. Locals celebrate festivals and holidays in their homes with the Khantoke dinner today. Sitting down to a well-presented meal of good and delicious food is something most of us enjoy. Then there are those stand-up occasions where we mix and mingle with other guests and enjoy cocktails and finger foods. Finger foods? Eating with one's fingers? Considered as neither polite nor hygienic in some circles, eating with our fingers is as old as the human race. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, as we all do it perhaps without thinking.
Price 650THB/Person ( Effective from 1 Nov. 2011 until 31 October,2013)

*Transportation Included

Do and Don-t in Thailand

Do and Don't In Thailand
1. Thailand is a Buddhist country where Buddha images are held sacred. Sacrilegious acts are punishable by imprisonment even if committed by foreign visitors.
2. Thai People hold their King and Queen an Royal Family in great reverence, and so won't tolerate foreigners showing disrespect to them.
3. Generally Thai women are conservative. So don't touch them without their consent.
4. Dress properly when entering a Buddhist temple. Miniskirt and short are not allowed. Take your shoes off before going inside the hall of worship. Ladies must not on any account touch a Buddhist monk, give things direct to him or receive thing from him.
5. Intimacies between man and woman should not be shown in public and Buddhist temple.
6. Traditionally, Thais greet each other with a wai (by pressing the palms together at the chest). If someone wais you, you should wai back (except wai-ed by a child).
7. Call Thais their first names; use the title "Khun" for adults.
8. Thai people smile to express gladness and happiness, to thank for small service, to return the wai (a way of greeting) of children and inferior person, and even to excuse small inconveniences.
9. Don't touch person's head, nor ruffle his hair. The head is the noblest part of the body. A sincere apology should be offered immediately if touch someone's head unintentionally.
10. Avoid placing your feet on the table while sitting. Never use your foot to point things out or to touch any part of the body of anyone. Which considered rude.
11. Entering a Thai house, you're expected to remove your shoes

Chiang Dao, the last tooth of the Himalayas rises majestically above the rest of the mountains. In its shadow we find some of the most remote and interesting rides in Northern Thailand.

TRIP DESCRIPTION CROSS COUNTRY / DOWNHILL
Trip 5: intermediate level - 100% off road
Trip 5a: advanced level - 10% off road, 90% single track
Trip 5b: advanced level - 10% off road, 90% single track

This ride includes an awesome 4 X wheel drive tour up to a 5800 foot mountain at the famous Doi Chiang Dao "The last tooth of the Himalayas".
            Trip 5
From the summit we depart by mountain bikes along the ridge with beautiful views across to Chiang Dao and into the Mae Taeng Valley.
We pass by hill tribe villages and enjoy pine forests and the cool air at this higher altitude.

First gradual descent along the top turns into a steep drop to the Mae Taeng Valley, all on hardly used forest road until we reach the bottom of the valley. Then we ride on a small paved road through an astonishingly beautiful valley landscape, where we are greeted by elephants lingering by the river waiting to be fed.
            Trip 5a
The experienced rider will enjoy this branch of the regular route down the south face of the valley through thick jungle on a very remote single track later following the water down into the farm land of the valley.
            Trip 5b
Advanced riders and explorers will marvel at this remote ridge ride, these trails have never seen a bike before and who knows if we can find the exact same route again, these hunting and gathering trails branch and branch down and along the ridge as we descent in to the Mae Taman Valley. You want to be in good shape for this one . The views are magnificent.
            Exploratory rides
If you are as adventures as we are and looking to join us testing new ridges and lost ravines be our guest , the rate for these rides is usually comparable to other published rides in the region. The exact length and ridability of these ridge explorations can not be guaranteed, but a hell of an adventure with an altitude advantages is for sure. Did we mention you should have past riding experience...

TRIP DESCRIPTION CROSS COUNTRY / DOWNHILL

This ride includes an awesome 4 wheel drive tour up to a 5700 foot mountain across from the famous Doi Chiang Dao, the last tooth of the Himalayas . From here we ride straight down into the upper Mae Taeng Valley (2600 feet elevation) on hardly used fast dirt road. There is lots of steep downhill and plenty of beautiful views.

Once in the valley we experience single track winding up and down over numerous small hills through farm land and hill tribe villages . Finally we meet a dirt road again and work our way up over two medium size mountains. Then we get to enjoy another long winding down hill run, where again we can practice the art of downhill mountain biking.

Once in the valley, we ride through rice fields and hill tribe villages to the Mae Taeng river at the small village of Sopkai where our driver awaits us.

This is a very long day and beginners have to sit this one out. You should be in excellent shape and have ample biking experience. The natural beauty and hill tribe experience is astonishing, but comes with some physical sacrifice.

Trip 4a: advanced level - 60% off road, 40% single track
Trip 4b: advanced level - 5% off road, 95% single track

There are days worth of steep, technical advanced downhill and challenging cross country single track in heavily wooded areas. Trails are usually small foot paths rarely used by hunters and hill tribes , we usually spend hrs riding without meeting anyone.

The beautiful Doi Suthep National Park and surrounding area is the perfect playground for the advanced rider. Bring your own bike or ride one of our full suspension mountain bikes . You are guaranteed to have a great time. We have so much fun riding here that you can ride with us DAILY. Our extensive knowledge of the local mountains is a great benefit to the advanced mountain biker. Unmatched by anyone or anywhere in Thailand.

So if you want to RIDE, We mean really ride some awesome trails , "The Hunters Escape series " is your best choice . We provide all safety gear (if you like it or not). Bring your own clip less if you need them and a great sense of humor as you grind down the trail. Call today… operators are standing by... (ha ha ) unless we are riding and than we get back to you this evening.

This is a great intro ride to off road mountain biking. The descent through Doi Suthep National Park presents us with great views of the Mae Ping Valley below and makes this one of the most scenic and popular rides.

TRIP DESCRIPTION DOWNHILL, UP COUNTRY RIDE
National forest and plantation access dirt road with ruts, rock gardens, mud and sand traps, some steep down hills at times but very manageable.

Our 4 wheel drive transportation takes us to the top of Doi Pui mountain 1600m( 5400 feet) above the Palace and Doi Suthep Temple. After viewing Doi Pui Village below and some stretching, we prepare our Cycles and get ready to ride down to our favorite coffee plantation.

This first part of the trip helps us to evaluate your riding ability and we talk about techniques to make your downhill cycling even more enjoyable. Everyone is encouraged to practice the newly learned techniques. The trail leads straight down the mountain with at times steep downhill riding, Absolute no lengthy up hills disturb the rhythm and spirit of the forest, At our many rest points we enjoy the beautiful views of Chiang Mai below.

The challenging terrain of the route capture our full attention. The wild growth of the forest hugs the path. Half way down, we leave the dirt path and head straight through the forest on single track over roots and rocks , A well deserved break at a secret waterfall, and then single track all the way to the lake for lunch. This ride, although not easy, is a great introduction to off road downhill mountain biking. At the Lake a our favorite Lunch spot prepares the well deserved meal for us.
After Lunch we head back to Chiang Mai the lazy way, in the truck and full of great memories.

TRIP DESCRIPTION Cross Country Ride with downhill
National forest and plantation access dirt road with ruts, rock gardens, mud and sand traps, some steep down hills, turning into single track completely unused by vehicular traffic, long steep uphill, great if you are in top shape. Very rewarding.

Our 4 wheel drive transportation takes us to the top of Doi Pui mountain ( 5300 feet) above the Palace and Doi Suthep Temple. After viewing Doi Pui Village below and some stretching we prepare our Cycles and get ready to ride down to our favorite coffee plantation . This first part of the trip helps us to evaluate your riding ability and we talk about techniques to make your downhill cycling even more enjoyable. Everyone is encouraged to practice the newly learned techniques. Further downhill we turn west at the forest intersection where we continue gradually downhill, enjoying higher speeds and control. After passing a high country Royal Planting Project, we enter the great divide, a barely used and unmaintained path. We practice our art of Mountain Biking, moving in and out of ruts, over rocks and roots, and quickly arrive in the deep jungle gully between the two mountains. Now at 3200 feet elevation, we notice the tropical forest emerging from the pine woods, with huge banana leaves and plenty of bamboo filtering the light.
Once at the bottom of the gully we begin a long and rewarding uphill back to 4100 feet, some ride, some walk, concentrating and preserving energy on the way to our summit.
A 200 year old bamboo grove greets us at the top, where a lengthy and well deserved break is taken.

Continuing along the high road with fantastic views of the valley below we ride a gradual , long downhill. Warmed up we play in and out of ruts and holes, sand traps and rocks. The challenging terrain forces us to maintain full concentration on riding and moves us into ” the zone “ of the sport. The hill tribe village at the end of the forest trail brings us back to civilization.

Once in the Mesa Valley we enjoy a beautiful winding paved road downhill all the way to our favorite eating spot near Wat Ampawan.

TRIP DESCRIPTION Cross Country Ride with downhill
National forest and plantation access dirt road with ruts, rock gardens, mud and sand traps, long steep down hills, rarely used by small farm vehicles, short steep uphills, great if you are in shape. Very rewarding.

Our 4 wheel drive transportation takes us to the top of Doi Pui mountain ( 5400 feet) above the Palace and Doi Suthep Temple. After viewing Doi Pui Village below and some stretching, we prepare our Cycles and get ready to ride down to our favorite coffee plantation . This first part of the trip helps us to evaluate your riding ability and we talk about techniques to make your downhill cycling even more enjoyable. Everyone is encouraged to practice the newly learned techniques.

After the coffee break we keep riding down hill until we reach our route west into the next valley. Fantastic forest riding with great views from open plantations, are followed by a break at a refreshing mountain creek.

With only short steep up hills we wind our way across the valley, past small farm houses while witnessing the local hill tribes in there natural environment. Then we ride further down hill between plantations and forest with beautiful pine trees changing to eucalyptus growth on the way down to the Mae Rim Valley floor. The rarely used forest road presents the rider with plenty of challenges. This trip ends at beautiful Wat Ampawan, where our driver is waiting for us. A late lunch at a secluded Orchid Farm with a small lake, gives us a chance to reflect on significant events during this eventful day.

This forest /farm road is hardly traveled and is perfect for mountain biking, allowing speed, but challenging your riding abilities. This is very secluded riding and you will feel deep appreciation for the local ecology.
